ABOUT US

Initiated in 1998 NEP is a Queen’s award-winning independent fuel poverty charity and Home Improvement Agency. We improve the condition of cold damp homes through the practical delivery of energy efficiency improvements. Our trading Arm, NEP Energy Service make businesses, schools and public buildings more sustainable.

We help alleviate fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions by supplying free and subsidised home insulation, boiler repairs and replacement services and energy switching advice. We have robust referral streams with local service providers, allowing us to offer a tool kit of measures to help improve the health and wellbeing of residents over the age of 60 and families with young children.

Our ‘Improving Health Through Warmer Homes’ training programme has been delivered to over 2,500 NHS, Housing and Advice Centre front-line staff within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire helping vulnerable households. Through their Energy Saving community workshops they educate the public on energy efficiency outlining methods of how they can save energy, money and live a more sustainable life.

We project manage individual and large scale solid wall insulation projects, solar battery storage schemes and are a key partner in the EU funded REMOURBAN Smart Cities project.

NEP is based in Nottingham, their domestic services incorporate the county too. Their commercial energy survey (NEP Energy Services) services cover the whole of England.

Any profit generated from NEP Energy Services is reinvested back into NEP’s fuel poverty projects.

Our Background

In 1997 a proposal was delivered to Nottingham City Council for an initiative to develop a holistic view of energy requirements and to deliver a comprehensive energy strategy for the city of Nottingham.

In 1998, Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP) was established.

Our Formal Objectives are:

- ‘To advance the education of the public about energy efficiency, including the alleviation of fuel poverty.’
- ‘The protection and preservation of the environment and public health, by means of education into the provision and use of energy in ways that reduce, or eliminate, harmful emissions, in doing so contribute to the creation of new jobs in the energy efficiency sector.’

We have two practical roles

- Acting as a platform for Climate Change limitation partnerships and projects. Projects we either manage or are a partner in:- Remourban (Smart Cities), Readdressing the Balance (battery storage), Nottinghamshire Healthy Housing Service, Greener Housing, Harder To Treat SWI project, Notts Warm Zone, Broxtowe Warm Zone and Nottinghamshire Community Energy (community owned solar farm).

- Providing Information, Advice and Consultancy to developers, community groups and individuals on how best to make use of renewable energy and energy efficiency in their property. If necessary providing support through the process of purchase, grant application and installation.
