The National Trust

Kemble Drive

Website Address:

As a charity, we rely for income on membership fees, donations and legacies, and revenue raised from our commercial operations.

We’re a charity founded in 1895 by three people who saw the importance of our nation’s heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy. More than 120 years later, these values are still at the heart of everything we do. We look after special places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland for ever, for everyone.

As a charity we rely for income on membership fees, donations and legacies, and revenue raised from our commercial operations.

We have over 4.5 million members and 62,000 volunteers. More than 20 million people visit our pay for entry properties, while an estimated 100 million visit our open air properties.

We protect and open to the public over 350 historic houses, gardens and ancient monuments.

But it doesn’t stop there. We also look after forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, downs, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, castles, nature reserves, villages - for ever, for everyone.

We look after special places for ever, for everyone. Our purpose has never changed (and never will) but we know that we cannot afford to stand still. Right now, we’re more innovative and creative in the ways we’re reaching out to people than ever before. We’re making great progress and working much harder to make sure that everyone feels at home at the National Trust. And we need talented people, people like you, to help us and play their part.

- Look after the nation’s special places; conserving, protecting and providing access to coast, countryside, historic homes and gardens to the highest standard;

- Play our part in restoring a healthy, beautiful, natural environment;

- Offer experiences that move, teach and inspire;

- Help look after the places where people live.

We have over 10,000 dedicated and skilled employees, who are proud to work for us. In 2015, we were recognised as one of the best not-for-profit employers in the UK. Over the last year, we’ve continued to invest in our people. We are incredibly lucky that, alongside our employees, more than 60,000 volunteers give their time, energy and skills to our cause. Whether our people are permanent or with us for just a few months, we take their welfare and training seriously.
