WORK FOR US
We are the fifth largest employer in the Wakefield district, employing more than 1,400 people, and we are committed to offering our employees the best possible working conditions and opportunities for training and personal development.
We achieved the Investors in People (IiP) Gold Standard in August 2010. The IiP is the UK’s leading people management standard, which specialises in transforming business performance through people.
By achieving Gold Standard it puts us in the top 1% of organisations that have IiP status and demonstrates our commitment to our employees.
Not only that, but each year we host the Star Awards – a special ceremony that celebrates the very best achievements of WDH employees as well as our Employee Conference.
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
We are committed to treating people fairly and taking the nine protected characteristics below into consideration in all aspects of our work: -
- race
- gender
- gender reassignment
- disability
- sexual orientation
- religion or belief
- age
- pregnancy and maternity
- marriage and civil partnership
The Wakefield district has a growing multicultural community and we welcome this diversity and recognise the many benefits it brings to the area.
One of the main ways we can ensure that we value the diversity of the communities we serve is by promoting an understanding of diversity and inclusion issues with employees and customers.
We do this by providing all our employees online diversity training with the opportunity to receive more in-depth training on a range of issues from domestic abuse to dementia awareness.
We have a Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and a Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan that have been developed with the involvement of a number of employee and customer groups.
We publish our diversity activities and outcomes annually in the Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report.
