Business Development Analyst (Gas & Power)

The Integrated Gas & Power team (IGP), within Gas & Low Carbon Energy will create new gas markets and premium LNG shorts by participating in downstream gas, power and transportation infrastructure and integrating the associated value chains. We have an ambitious target to develop downstream gas demand equivalent to 25 mtpa of LNG supply by 2030. Strategic alignment and integration with other teams within the Gas & Low Carbon Energy Entity and other BP Group Entities will be key success criteria IGP.

Agile working practices have been adopted within IGP and a pool of Business Development Analysts will be working with the business across our customer demand segments, supporting optimisation, development and expansion of existing projects and development of market entry underpinning new long-term business prospects. These roles will be deployed onto deals as required by the business and as such have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of IGP.

Key Accountabilities:

• Evaluate relevant markets including long-term demand forecasts, analysis of fuel/power mixes, identification of projects and customers, due diligence where appropriate & provide succinct recommendations on ranking and prioritisation of resources
• Perform analysis of origination opportunities in support of business cases and negotiations
• Appraise potential business models and corporate structures to optimise BP participation approach and maximise value for BP.
• Identify and develop customer relationships including relationship building, identification of customer needs, marketing of BP.
• Support contract development and negotiation of agreements by taking deals from term sheet to definitive agreements and supporting Originators/Senior Originators in deal execution
• Provide support to the project delivery team working on deals and projects, for instance, with respect to business development and optimisation of assets, JV/shareholder negotiations of associated commercial contracts, and support to project finance and lender engagement
• Coordinate management of internal stakeholders, functional support and governance processes.

Essential Experience:

• Strong commercial and financial acumen and experience of working with or in joint ventures.
• Numerate and analytical, with strong knowledge of financial models
• Understanding of the commercial drivers and key risks associated with major deals or infrastructure projects
• Excellent team working and communication skills, with the ability to build co-operative and trustful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders internally and externally across a range of geographies, cultures and disciplines
• Customer problem-solving focused mindset to provide sustainable innovative customer offers.
• Bachelor’s Degree in any engineering, science, technology, business or finance discipline or equivalent experience
