Building and Facilities Manager

Salary: c £40k (dependent upon experience) plus car allowance
Hours: 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday
Location: Green Lane, Walsall (frequent travel to Fulbourn Road, Cambridge)

At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Buildings and Facilities Manager, who will be responsible for the management of our Buildings and Facilities provision across all assets owned by South Staffs Water, including Water Production and Supply Sites, Offices and Depots and tenanted and vacant domestic company properties, ensuring that all property sites are always managed to a high standard. 

Working closely with the Operations team, the Buildings and Facilities Manager will also lead day to day operations, in relation to building environments and regulations, business processes, people management, and various levels of reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team, ensuring all regulatory/legal compliance requirements are met, monitored and updated whilst maintaining condition and performance of the building stock, ensuring that it is fit for purpose
• Define & deliver planned and reactive maintenance strategy for all Company Buildings
• Undertake contract management and reporting of various building management and other contracts
• Project manage, incorporating tendering process and preparation of contracts.
• Ensure compliance with appropriate Health & Safety legislation, regulations and other relevant legislation necessary in the safe management of the Company's buildings
• Identify Capital projects needed within the department and ensure they are budgeted and scoped
• Deliver the facilities proportion of the company’s business plan, including a programme of condition surveys 
• Ensure and undertake, where appropriate, preparation of documentation for work delivery, including RAMS
• Ensure that fixed plant is tested/maintained to standards and replaced as necessary
• Monitor and forecast expenditure against budgets, agree variations and reconcile discrepancies 
• Provide regular updates against work programmes as necessary to Manager and the Board.

The successful candidate will hold a CDM Qualification or a relevant equivalent level and discipline, as well as proven experience in a similar industry. You should be an experienced Contract Manager, a leader of people, have excellent verbal and written communications, stakeholder management skills and demonstrable evidence of the successful management of projects. A strong understanding of Health and Safety Legislation, Building & Environmental Regulations as well as advanced skills in Microsoft packages are essential. You should also hold a full valid driving licence.
