Position: Japanese Knotweed Consultant/Contractor

Location: Based at our Brighton office

With our head office in Brighton, our work is national, so we would also consider an applicant who is based in London or the south-east, and prepared to work from home, with arrangements for regular office time to work with the team.

Phlorum is a dynamic and ambitious environmental consultancy with offices in Brighton, Manchester and Cardiff.

We are seen as ‘thought-leaders’ in the burgeoning Japanese knotweed control industry, having been at the forefront of producing national guidance, setting up the premier trade body for this sector and in our involvement in landmark and high-profile legal actions involving this non-native invasive weed.

Main Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with the right skills and relevant experience to become a key member of our Japanese knotweed consultancy and contractor services.

The role will entail site and office work.

Site work will involve a range of activities, such as:

• Surveying; supervising excavation works on construction sites; and applying herbicides.

Office work will involve

• Preparing reports; tenders; method statements; site surveys; herbicide records; risk assessments; and site plans. During the summer a significant component of the work will be onsite, managing and undertaking herbicide applications.

Requirements

• A driving licence is essential for the role (company vans are available).
• Applicants should have good communication, written and computer skills (Microsoft Office) and have a positive, proactive attitude.
• Experience of working on construction sites and having held a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card would be particularly valuable. NTPC herbicide application qualifications PA1/PA6AW spraying licence would also be advantageous.
• Most of our staff hold university degrees. However, evidence of the right skills and experience, as outlined above, are more important to us.
