Job description 

Main responsibilities 

The job holder will:

• Implement improvements in the Environmental Management System
• Act as a key stakeholder in a range of environmental processes, including DMRs, HAZOPs, UNOR investigations, toimplement management systems, standards and procedures
• Provide environmental advice to facilities and project teams
• Produce environmental documentation in line with legislative and project requirements, including aspectsassessments, BPM assessments and environmental support files
• Provide specialist environmental support to interface with SEPA on behalf of facilities and project teams
• Review the efficacy of environmental arrangements and resources in their area
• Undertake internal checks for the environmental arrangements in their area
• Participate in arrangements for the sharing of environmental knowledge and support to other site environmentalspecialists
• Deliver site and plant specific environment process and awareness training
• Deliver specified tasks from the CNO improvement plan
• Provide technical secretarial support to relevant environmental committees
• Represent Dounreay at internal forums
• Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to post.
• Be appointed to RWA Corporate Body

Desirable Aptitudes and Experience

• Qualified to HND in Environmental Studies or equivalent qualification plus experience
• Three years relevant environmental operations experience
• Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment is desirable

Experience within the following areas

• supporting Optioneering assessments and assisting in the production of BPM documents (or equivalent i.e. BATdemonstration/justification documents)
• working within engineering systems and sub-systems and understanding environment impacts resulting from theiroperation
• complying with Environmental Permits (i.e. an RSR EPR permit, an EPR permit or EASR18), preferably working on afacility which held an environmental permit for its operations
• providing advice to operations and maintenance staff to ensure compliance with environmental permits andmanagement system requirements
• engaging with Environmental Regulators would be desirable
• Understanding of Scottish Environmental Legislation relevant to a nuclear decommissioning facility
