Salary: Circa £50,000.00 dependent upon experience

Hours: 37.5 Hours Monday to Friday

Location: Green Lane, Walsall or Fulbourn Road, Cambridge

At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer, who will join the Asset Management team, providing technical and innovative input to the generation of investment needs and solutions in key strategic areas of the water company’s investment programme.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on the identification of business needs and potential solutions, clearly defining project proposals around key strategic assets for submission through due process, to ensure successful delivery.
• Responsible for driving asset management initiatives around process, system/data development and stakeholder engagement to support the understanding and capture of business risk and needs over the short and long term.
• Provision of technical support to Project Managers in the generation of outline and feasibility solutions for above and below ground assets across our network.
• Responsible for supporting both asset management and delivery teams to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions.
• Undertaking design as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which can be spread across different office locations.
• Opportunity to mentor and develop junior colleagues and to be part of building an effective team.
• Using appropriate software/data to provide advice, solutions and successful project outcomes for stakeholders, with experience in hydraulic modelling desirable.
• Investigate and apply innovative approaches that will improve the way we work and drive efficiency.
• Demonstrate commitment to promoting health and safety in the workplace.

It is essential that the successful applicant holds a degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, as well as water industry experience, with a focus on the development of water and/or wastewater treatment needs and solutions. You will have previous knowledge and experience of AMP Price Review process for capital investment planning, as well as sound knowledge of Quality Assurance and Health and Safety procedures.

Able to successfully plan, prioritise and manage competing demands, you will be flexible and adaptable. The ideal applicant will be professionally qualified and a member of a relevant engineering institution i.e. Chartered or Incorporated Member ICE/ IMechE/IAM. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Strong computer literacy is essential, with a good understanding of relevant software packages.
