Working Pattern

This permanent full-time role will be home-based but will require periodic travel (approx. 1 day/week and on occasions this may require overnight stays) to meetings with customers, industry and the Grieve Strategic team; the post holder will require a valid full UK driving licence and access to a car.

The Role

Grieve Strategic provides value-added specialist services to the bioresource recycling industry with a particular focus on organic materials (e.g. sewage sludge, biosolids, compost, digestate, water treatment sludge and paper sludge), treatment, quality assurance/control systems, land use and regulatory requirements/compliance. This role is a new role to our growing organisation.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager in organic material management. Ideally candidates will have experience and knowledge in biosolids treatment and recycling to agricultural land and quality assurance systems. However related experience and knowledge may also be acceptable. The main purpose of the role will be to provide technical support services to customers including customer management, quality assurance and writing/maintaining technical documents.

Key tasks and responsibilities

The role will be varied and cover a range of tasks.  A selection of the key tasks involved are:

1. Act as a primary point of contact providing technical support services to customers
2. Manage customer relationships
3. Write and maintain technical documents
4. Work within budget and the business plan
5. Comply with appropriate legislation (e.g. employment, data protection, health and safety)
6. Carry out any other reasonable activities as required by the Commercial Director
7. Attend training courses and develop knowledge and skills as appropriate to business needs

Person Specification

Education

1. Completed a broad education that includes GCSE grade C or 4 and above in English Language and Maths (or equivalent)
2. Whilst not essential, a degree (or equivalent) in a related field would be an advantage
3. High level of written English is essential for report writing

Experience and Knowledge

1. Experience of organic material management (likely to be not less than 3 years’ experience)
2. Experience and knowledge in biosolids treatment and recycling to agricultural land and quality assurance systems.  Related experience and knowledge may also be acceptable
3. Proven experience in building and maintaining customer relationships (e.g. understanding their needs and responding effectively with a plan of how to meet these)
4. Be an experienced and competent report writer
5. Proficient user of IT systems in particular MS Office
6. Keep abreast of trends and changes within our sector of operations
