Acoustic Engineer

Job Description

Our client has an excellent opportunity for an acoustic engineer. 

As one of their acoustic engineers you’ll help clients manage noise and vibration in their buildings in the residential, commercial, transport, education and health, municipal, sports and leisure and performing arts sectors. They also undertake impact assessment for infrastructure schemes such as road and rail, power and energy, and urban development including both construction and operational noise and vibration.

You will be joining a team of 20 acoustic engineers driven by a commitment to provide best value for our clients through a culture of innovation, safety, research and development. They are well equipped to serve the whole spectrum of infrastructure and buildings development and management using the latest tools for environmental noise prediction, building acoustics and façade insulation performance in addition to an extensive array of noise and vibration survey instrumentation.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside the rest of the team with supervision that is linked to your skills and experience to enable you to gain exposure to many of our acoustic services, which include:

  • Modelling, prediction, investigation and design services to control noise and vibration
  • Noise and vibration surveys
  • Assessment and appraisal of infrastructure schemes at all stages
  • Facade design to control external noise intrusion
  • Noise and vibration modelling
  • Architectural acoustic design to optimise acoustic comfort
  • Electro-acoustic design to enhance intelligibility of life safety communication systems

Candidate Specification

Our client is looking for flexible and motivated acoustic engineers with a genuine passion and a desire to make a difference in the world.

To apply for this vacancy you will have worked in acoustics (in a consultancy, education or research environment, government or local authority, or in industry) and have an acoustics degree or equivalent experience or an IOA Diploma and you will likely to be AMIOA or MIOA.

They are looking for individuals with the following characteristics:

  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
