This an excellent opportunity to join one of the highest rated consultancies in Ireland. Their team has an exciting role open for a Design Engineer to join the Flood Management & Protection Team at our Galway, Dublin, Limerick or Castlebar office (location flexible).
Role & Responsibilities
As a member of the Civil | Design Build | Water Team, the Design Engineer will be required to undertake the following duties:
- Provision of hydraulic modelling input to projects (primarily related to flood risk management and drainage design projects)
- Preparation of preliminary designs and reports (primarily related to flood risk management and drainage designs)
- Technical report writing
- Contribute to the project team on a day to day basis
- Support technical development of others in the team
- Direct communication and meetings with Clients
Key Requirements
- Candidates will hold a minimum Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering, Geography, GIS, Science related subject or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
- Sound understanding of hydrological processes and analysis techniques
- Experience in flood modelling software (Flood Modeller, or HEC RAS 1D/2D) advantageous
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems such as QGIS, MapInfo or ArcGIS is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong report writing/ability
- Design Experience on water and civil projects
- Ability to achieve tight deadlines working as part of a team
- Good client liaison skills
- Full Clean Driving Licence
- Excellent verbal and written (English) communication skills
