Business Support Officer - Sustainability (Climate)

Business Support Officer - Sustainability (Climate) – Post Ref: CC101
Salary: Scale 4/5, £20,444- £24,920 per annum, 37 hours per week, fixed term for 1 year

Calderdale Council is leading by example in the action against climate change. The Council has declared a Climate Emergency and an Ecological Emergency and committed its own operations and the Borough to becoming carbon neutral by 2038. We are now recruiting an Environmental Project Administrator to help deliver our work.

You will work as part of a small, tactical team, helping to help move forward environmental improvement and low carbon projects. Your work will be focussed around helping the Calderdale Climate Committee and its Task & Finish Groups. These thematic groups will bring together Councillors, colleagues, managers and external partners to formulate and oversee delivery of plans to tackle urgent climate and environmental issues in transport; biodiversity; community engagement; buildings retrofit and creation of a green economy. Strong organisational skills will be needed to create and maintain records of key discussions, support formulation of work plans, ensure that key people are included in discussions and that work maintains momentum via regular meetings.

The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills; and a track record in keeping accurate records and minutes, managing diaries, and in applying initiative to moving forward tasks in a busy environment. Having an extensive knowledge of environmental issues isn’t required, but the role is likely to appeal to someone with an interest in this area; and will offer ample opportunities to work directly with and learn from experts who are innovating and moving critical projects forward.
