Senior Remote Sensing Scientist / Technical Specialist

Gaia Talent is looking to recruit an Senior Remote Sensing Scientist/Technical Specialist to join the growing Remote Sensing Consultancy client's team in a hybrid and flexible way to work. The role offers the opportunity to work first-hand with some of the most detailed aerial image data captured on the planet, with unique projects taking place around the word including in Australia, the USA, Europe and the UK. The main elements of the role will involve managing remote sensing projects and undertaking business development activities. 

The candidate will be expected to manage projects, speak directly with clients and liaise with the data operations and RS teams to deliver a range of outputs including orthomosaics, topographic outputs (DSM&DTM), point clouds, habitat maps, 3D models and much more.

The ideal candidate will help drive the business forward by identifying business opportunities and contributing to tender activity. The role requires a good level of understanding of the services the wider company delivers and there will be opportunities to deliver presentations to industry via conferences, client meetings and online webinars. 

Although primarily office based, there may be a requirement to undertake fieldwork on certain projects so a clean driving license would be highly desirable. Due to time differences with some international projects, there may be a requirement to work outside of core hours to deliver projects on time. 

Skills/qualifications: 
Degree in Remote Sensing/GIS/Earth Observation (or related discipline) or at list three years experience in these fields.
Experienced and capable user of GIS application.
You will have a proven track record of managing multiple projects effectively within time and cost deadlines. 
You will have excellent written skills and be able to review reports and outputs created by the team. 
You will have a good communication skills and be able to work with senior management to drive business development, speaking with clients and talking knowledgably about the wider services that the client can offer. 
You will have an active interest in remote sensing and earth observation as well as experience of extracting information from airborne and/or satellite datasets. 
Experience of image interpretation techniques including image classification.
Knowledge of aerial data capture, photogrammetric workflows and experience working with LiDAR/point clouds data would be highly desirable. 
Experience of photogrammetric software.
As would experience undertaking image analyses tasks such as image classification, stereo feature collection and topographic mapping. 
An engineering background with knowledge of field surveys and topographic mapping requirements would be advantageous but not essential for this role.
