Opportunity:

A Senior Ecologist role has become available based in Cardiff for an aspiring Ecologist looking to take the next step in their career. You will be joining the well-established Southwestern Ecology department, working closely alongside other ecology specialists and the company’s talented landscape division. As the new Senior Ecologist, you will have the opportunity to take on a leadership role for major ecology developments as well as contribute to other nature positive projects within the company. You will have the chance to grow and develop your existing skillset, handling projects that vary from brief to brief, keeping each day exciting and engaging with fulfilling work that often involves a multidisciplinary approach, allowing you to learn practical approaches to common problems.

Responsibilities:

This role comes with a variety of responsibilities, calling for a candidate who is dedicated and hard-working, a natural lead, collaborative and committed to the betterment of our environment. Typical duties will include:

* Handling all stages of eco surveys, from design to execution.
* Take on a client facing, business development role with the aim of developing your portfolio.
* Supervise various assessments and appraisals including: HRAs, PEAs, EcIAs and Mitigation Strategies.
* Taking on a leadership role, able to grow and develop the abilities of junior and graduate ecology team members.
* Acting as an expert advisor on key projects for clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Full CIEEM membership – working towards chartered status.
* Proven success in a client facing position regarding winning work.
* A full, clean UK driving license.
* Strong, working knowledge of UK legislature and Policy Framework.
* Adept survey skills, including prepping, method design and leading.
* Strong report writing and experience communicating with LPAs, clients and statutory bodies.
* Survey experience with Phase I/UK Habs and species surveys. Welsh licenses are highly desirable.
