Principal EIAR Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Consultant to join an expanding Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic group of environmental professionals specializing in providing high-quality services to a diverse range of clients across the public and private sectors, including industries such as pharmaceutical, EPA licensed, technological, property development, construction, and waste management.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with a positive attitude, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to staying updated with evolving legislation and industry trends. This role involves managing projects, guiding a team of consultants, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service.

Requirements:

  • A third-level qualification in environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years post-graduate experience in a similar role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Irish planning system and experience with EU and Irish environmental legislation.
  • Broad experience in project EIAR/Planning/Construction stages.
  • In-depth knowledge of EIAR processes.
  • Advantageous qualifications include a Master’s degree, Chartered status, and professional memberships (e.g., MIEEM, MIEMA, MRUP, MIPI, CIWEM, Engineers Ireland).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee EIA and other environmental projects from inception to completion, including project budgeting and regular progress reporting to the Technical Director.
  • Lead and supervise junior team members and sub-consultants, ensuring high-quality deliverables that comply with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Coordinate with clients, external stakeholders, sub-consultants, and sub-contractors, attending project meetings as required.
  • Contribute to project design from an environmental perspective and ensure project documentation meets client and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in business development by preparing fee proposals, identifying market opportunities, and ensuring consistent workflow.
  • Maintain client relationships, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction.
