Position: Energy Engineer
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Energy & Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in energy auditing, building retrofit, and BER assessment, underpinned by mechanical engineering and design skills. A passion for sustainability and renewable technology is essential, as the role will involve delivering innovative, low-carbon solutions across commercial and public sector projects.
This position offers a clear pathway to professional chartership, with opportunities to work on challenging, high-impact projects in the fields of energy efficiency, retrofit, and renewable integration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed commercial energy audits and prepare reports with practical recommendations in line with SI 426 and SEAI’s SSEA.
  • Carry out BER assessments and ensure compliance with SEAI standards.
  • Support and deliver building retrofit projects from design through to implementation.
  • Apply mechanical engineering and design expertise to HVAC, building services, and renewable energy systems.
  • Prepare and review mechanical design specifications, drawings, and calculations to support retrofit and sustainability projects.
  • Develop sustainability strategies, decarbonisation roadmaps, and renewable energy integration plans.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet client and organisational targets.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to drive effective project outcomes.
  • Stay current with energy policy, building regulations, and best practices in sustainability, mechanical design, and renewable technologies.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Mechanical, Energy, Environmental, or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Master’s degree in Renewable Technology (or equivalent postgraduate qualification).
  • Proven experience in commercial energy auditing, BER assessments, and retrofit projects.
  • Mechanical engineering background with experience in mechanical design and building services systems.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with energy modelling and relevant software (e.g., DEAP, IES, PHPP, or similar).
  • Experience in air-tightness measures, testing and measurement would be an advantage.

Professional Memberships:
  • Member of Engineers Ireland (MIEI), Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), and/or Energy Institute.
  • Actively working towards Chartered Engineer status.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Mechanical design capability across building systems, HVAC, and renewable technologies.
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, certifications, or methodologies (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, nZEB).
  • Excellent organisational skills, timekeeping, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in client-facing settings.
  • Self-motivated and hardworking, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
