The Client

An opportunity has arisen with our client, to acquire a new individual to play a leading role within the business.

They are one of the market leaders in ground stabilisation, having secured nearly a quarter of the stone column market within the UK, but within the last few years have acquired new technology for for ground stabilisation which reduces the need for additional piling and foundation work, which results in large cost savings for construction projects.  The technology is proven and widely used in the US and some parts of Europe and is now gaining traction in the UK.

Having received a large investment in updating all of their existing equipment, a significant investment has also been made in new technology which places them in an exciting position to capitalise within the market.  Having doubled their turnover within the last 3 years and increasing their profitability, they are conservatively forecasting for their turnover to double again within the next 3 years.  Due to the recent investment and the positive take up in the market to date, an individual is sought would form part of the management team who can help to guide the company in their next phase of growth, with the expectation that they would be one of the business leaders in the organisation after this period.

Role

The role of business engineer is a management role with dual technical and business development responsibilities within the organisation.

Responsibilities would include;

Identify suitable projects at an early stage and outline appropriate solutions

Review tender documents offering guidance regards technical elements

Contribute to the technical design and price schedules of bids, ensuring risks are mitigated

Follow the tender process through, liaising and educating clients and staff appropriately

Support the delivery teams, verifying work at all stages of the project

The Individual

The successful candidate would be based within the regions of the north west, midlands or south east.

They would be expected to be enthusiastic and have the drive and desire to grow the business.

There would be an expectation to show a track record of success in building a career within the UK.

Knowledge of ground engineering, foundations, piling or construction would be a pre-requisite.  A technical background would be advantageous, preferably in ground stabilisation, engineering or investigation, but as full technical training would be provided, this is not essential.

Technical training would likely be 2 weeks in France and some flexibility to travel abroad when required would be necessary.

A track record of business development or client development would be desirable.

In return, a competitive package will be offered.  In addition to the package is a 15% performance bonus which has been paid in full for the past 3 years.  Company incentives include a twice yearly conference, with partners which was in New York last year.   In addition to the package, the opportunity to take a leadership role within a growing organisation is on offer.  The organisation is relatively small, with its own distinct culture and autonomy, but has the advantage of investment and stability from a much larger group.

Applications are encouraged from individuals who would value being a part of this and have the desire to make their mark in the industry.
