Our client is a leading environmental and planning consultancy and they are seeking to appoint an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to assist and manage a strong and diverse pipeline of projects throughout the UK, Ireland and abroad. The Ecologist will assist the Scottish Ecology team and work closely with the EIA/ Planning team and other in-house specialists on projects spanning the infrastructure, renewables, property, energy, petrochemicals and property sectors.

Reporting to the Associate Ecologist, you will join a successful and growing team and have the opportunity to manage and support more junior team members. The ideal candidate will have a track record of undertaking and managing surveys and ecological appraisals for developments in a range of sectors.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

* Provide ecological expertise for a range of proposals across multiple sectors
* Undertake and manage surveys covering a range of taxa, including Phase 1/ Extended Phase1 Habitat Surveys and protected species (e.g. bats, GCN, badger, water vole, otter)
* Prepare reports and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) for developments in a range of sectors
* Supervise other project team members, including subcontractors and seasonal staff
* Liaise with colleagues, clients, local authorities, SNH and other stakeholders
* Prepare tenders/ proposals and contribute towards business development

Qualifications / Experience:

* Degree or Masters in relevant subject
* Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. CIEEM or CEnv) is desirable
* Demonstrable consultancy experience across protected species surveys, habitat surveys, ecological reporting (EcIA) and Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW)
* SNH/ Natural England licence in one or more protected species (e.g. bats, GCN) is desirable
* Good knowledge of relevant UK and European legislation, policy and guidance
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Full driving licence
