About the company

Eunomia Research & Consulting is an independent and ethical environmental consultancy. We are a mission oriented business and our goal is to be influential in bringing about positive change: we embrace this in all that we do.

We specialise in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, circular economy, low carbon energy, marine planning, natural economy and climate change mitigation. With the continuous increase of environmental issues across today’s headlines, these fields are gaining momentum on a global scale and like our specialisms, we too are growing as a business. Eunomia currently has over 70 employees worldwide, working across a range of offices throughout the UK and Europe, New York and Auckland.

We are appointed advisors to numerous blue-chip companies, private equity funds and lenders. We also work with a broad range of organisations from trans-national bodies such as the OECD, UNEP and the European Union, through to national governments, local authorities and business support organisations (including Scottish Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, WRAP). Our ability to think creatively in a commercial context alongside our reputation for being at the leading edge of emerging environmental policy and good practice, allows us to effectively and efficiently focus our client support and advisory services.

Our desire to lead by example, and our enthusiastic and supportive team, makes Eunomia a stimulating and rewarding place to work.

Description of role
We are looking to expand our successful Sustainable Business team. The team works primarily with businesses on resource efficiency and sustainability projects, including the development of circular economy business models, or identifying, in a given sector, opportunities within the framework of the circular economy. The work also covers supply chain management and procurement strategy. The team’s work is sometimes very practical in its orientation, but may also have a policy focus.

We are looking for

an environmental consultant with at least three years’ experience in consultancy or within a business sector, working in areas of direct relevance to the team’s work, described above. For this post, you should be used to both working on projects under a project manager, and managing smaller projects yourself. It is important that you have a practical understanding of both the policy and business contexts and the related challenges facing businesses and be able to provide practical advice and support in helping them to address these. The ability to identify and introduce efficiency savings and new business models is particularly important. We need a creative problem solver and an excellent communicator: you need to have the aptitude to see where the underlying problems lie and the communication skills to be able to articulate these insights in a clear and persuasive fashion;

The role would be UK-based but could involve international work from time to time.

Key activities

The type of work is expected to include:

  • Delivery of environmental business support and policy work across a range of RE and CE-related subject areas;
  • Research, including industry consultation;
  • Report writing and presentation of results;
  • Reactive bid writing and undertaking some proactive business development activities;
  • Project management activities (potentially a few small projects simultaneously)
  • Ensuring timely technical project input is received from technical leads;
  • Liaison with the Project Director on strategic project issues;
  • Assignment of team responsibilities;
  • Project team and client communications;
  • Coordination and delivery of tasks in order to meet the required outcomes of the project;
  • Ensuring project documents are complete and current; and
  • Regular financial tracking, reporting and initiating corrective actions.
  • Training to develop key skills and competences.
