The Client

An established independent planning lead consultancy, with a strong reputation in the market.  With the acquisition of further offices to support their UK footprint, our client offers a range of planning lead and environmental services across a number of industries from infrastructure to the built environment and has a strong reputation for large delivering complex planning applications and evidence based planning, together with a range of environmental services from EIA, SEA, urban design and landscape architecture.  The northern region has developed to a point whereby it would benefit from an experienced senior planner to lead and develop the northern region of the business.     

The Role

Ideally based from the office in Manchester, the successful individual would take responsibility to develop an established team comprising experienced environmentalists and planners to encourage growth and good practice.  

Responsibilities for the role would include;

  • Designing and implementing a strategy for growth in the northern region of the UK 
  • Line Management and personnel development responsibilities for northern based personnel
  • Ensuring delivery of key projects are in line with client requirements, on time and within budgets 
  • Management and development of the P&L for the northern region in line with the business plan 
  • Identifying opportunities and working with the team to qualify and present appropriate proposals 
  • Representing the organisation with new and existing clients of key opportunities

The Individual

Individuals of interest will likely be able to demonstrate the following;

A track record within the UK of town planning or similar planning discipline

Will have RTPI membership, or be in the process of obtaining such and have a planning (or equivalent) qualification. 

Will have experience of team management and developing business within the UK, ideally within the north of England.

In addition, my client will be looking for an individual who has a desire to develop a business and make a success of their career.  Applications are particularly encouraged from individuals who are interested in making their mark in the industry, for whom a Director position would be a step up from their current role.  Support and development would be provided in order to make sure that the successful applicant would be given time to make the transition prior to taking up the role of Director and autonomy in the role would be provided at this point.
