Business Developer

Duration: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Coventry, UK (Short stays in Delft, Netherlands will be required – approximately 10% of the overall time)

We are currently recruiting a Business Developer, with technical background (experience in European and National Research Program is a plus). We are looking for someone with commercial experience and organizational qualities, who has the drive and ambition to succeed. The ideal candidate will be happy to take initiative, be solution-oriented and combine commerce and engineering. This is a broad role, involving networking, relationship building with target organisations, proposal and bid writing, developing marketing and sales strategy.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have the following attributes:

• A degree or higher in Physics or Engineering (essential)
• At least five years’ experience in sales and marketing in Built Environment and Renewable Energy (essential)
• Experience with technology development in the areas of Built Environment and Renewable Energy
• Very good understanding of market trends and knowledge of renewable energy initiatives
• Ability to scope new market sectors and develop business plans
• Familiarity with market research, risk analysis, IPR procedures, and financial analysis
• Ability to develop business models for a variety of innovative technologies and services
• Ability to deliver excellent presentations and business pitch at international events
• Ability to work independently, to defined timescales, together with a commitment to commercially oriented research and development.
• Excellent ability to work across multi-cultural environments
• Knowledge of H2020 framework and national innovation programs and other funding initiatives
• Fluent in English (Dutch is advantageous).

You will be expected to make a contribution to company management, strategy and resource planning; working closely with the technical staff, finance and administration colleagues.

You must be a very good team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills which will help you to deliver the following duties:

• Create relationships with key partners and bring new projects and ideas to the team
• Write and deliver competitive, commercial bids
• Write and deliver competitive, scientific, innovative business plans and R&D bids (such as H2020, EuroStars proposals etc).
• Support the marketing team and prepare marketing materials, web and social media content.

Travel will be required as part of the role, around Europe and with occasional visits/exhibitions worldwide. A driving license is essential.
