Assistant Ecologist

Location: Birmingham (other offices considered)

Salary: £21,000 - £25,000 depending on experience

Closing Date: 25/05/2018 (may close early)

Harris Lamb Planning Team are looking for an assistant ecologist to join their newly established Environment Team.  You will work with a large team of planning and environmental consultants on a wide range of regeneration developments.  The post comes with competitive salary as well as significant scope for formal and informal training, experience and career development.  We are happy to have an initial chat if you wish to find out more about the role and Company.


• Project Management – supporting with organizing a range of field surveys and coordinating projects
• Desk studies – ordering and reviewing existing environmental information
• Field surveys - organising and supporting with a wide range of ecology surveys
• Reporting – supporting with drafting reports and environmental mapping with GIS/CAD
• General administrative/management tasks – supporting with tasks relating to project quality, environmental reporting, health and safety and drafting marketing materials.

Capabilities & Qualifications

• You will hold a relevant degree
• A member of CIEEM or working towards membership
• Experience of using either GIS or CAD to produce drawings and drafting reports
• Positive attitude and happy with evening working and working away from home on occasion (TOIL system available)
• Experience of Phase 1 Habitat Survey and protected species surveys such as newt surveys, bat surveys etc. 
• Holding a protected species survey licence would be an advantage
