Reporting to both the Finance Director and CEO, this role is the key sales/procurement interface between the company and its feedstock suppliers. The company’s ability to meet its annual budget is dependent on sourcing suitable feedstocks at competitive prices and therefore the role is a significant position within the management team.

Candidate requirements:

Knowledge of the AD process and the wider market for organic waste.

Proven track record within the waste industry of dealing with both local and national businesses, both initiating new business and managing ongoing relationships.

Extensive network of contacts within the waste industry.

Knowledge of key legislation and administrative requirements around waste and AD. 


Key Responsibilities:

Managing procurement of feedstock in line with the company’s strategy:

Identifying available tonnages of required materials.

Appraisal of material types and their suitability for AD.

Negotiation of prices to maximise profitability.

Monitoring of quality (gas yield) of feedstocks.

Putting in place appropriate contracts for feedstock supply.

Arranging delivery schedules and dealing with last minute changes.

Managing ongoing relationships with feedstock suppliers, for example re-negotiation of pricing based on changes in material quality.

Ensuring all relevant administration, such as waste acceptance forms and reporting of lab testing, is completed correctly.

Liaising with the Plant Manager over logistics planning to ensure feedstock deliveries are matched to plant requirements.

Weekly and monthly reporting of data relating to feedstock types and tonnages, gas yields and commercial impact.

Work with the Financial Controller to maintain and develop feedstock pricing models in order to maximise profitability.

Work with the Financial Controller to manage the working capital impact of feedstock procurement on both the sales and purchase ledger sides.

Maintain and develop industry relationships within the organic waste market and AD sector, identifying developing trends and promoting the company. Share up to date market knowledge and opportunities for new product development with colleagues enabling the business to maximise potential market opportunities.
