Job Description

We are looking for an experienced manager to join the company’s management team. The successful candidate will work alongside the Head of Operations and the Business Manager, and will report to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the business development and sales function, which is delivered through our Market Area Leads, as well as being expected to “get stuck in” to support both specific pieces of pro-active business development and to help with the delivery and management of public sector tenders as required. 

Key responsibilities/activities on the Management team will include:

  • Accountable to the Board for monitoring progress against Eunomia’s overall sales target
  • Delivery of robust sales processes
  • Maintenance and ongoing development of sales tools
  • Support the Training Lead on rolling out of suitable sales training / coaching
  • Provision of sales data to inform Market Area Leads of progress against targets and to help determine future direction of travel
  • Coordination of market area activities to ensure they are as efficient and effective as possible and to minimise issues across the business in terms of sales, particularly around seasonality
  • Oversee delivery of each market area sales plan, and monitor the subsequent activities as identified in the sales plan

Key additional activities will include:

  • Support and facilitate specific pieces of pro-active business development across all areas of the business
  • Delivery and management of bids across all areas of the business
  • Line management

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will split their time 60:40 between the Management team activities and the additional activities respectively.

Person Specification:

We are seeking a highly motivated, confident and passionate individual that can oversee and drive forward the business development function of the business. The ideal candidate should reflect our values and commitment to quality and be expected to be self-disciplined, well organised and present themselves in a professional manner. A personal interest in, and commitment to recycling and other environmental and sustainability issues is expected. On a personal level, the successful candidate will:

  • be a confident and clear communicator;
  • demonstrate strong leadership qualities;
  • be able to motivate themselves and those around them;
  • be focused on continually improving the systems and processes that underpin the business’ operations; and
  • enjoy supporting others in seeking out new opportunities for the business to grow.


  • Educated to at least degree level in relevant discipline, or with practical background or experience relevant to the job description.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, either working for public, private or non-profit sectors.
  • An understanding of the commercial aspects of the environmental consultancy sector.
  • Corporate management experience, preferably including sales and/or business development.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and stakeholders at any one time.
  • Ability to think creatively and independently and to take initiative to solve problems.
  • A work winning philosophy.
  • Excellent verbal skills including the ability to present Eunomia and its work to a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent report writing skills and bid writing skills
  • Excellent all-round IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with multiple colleagues, peers and external clients.


  • Experience of a consultancy business model.
  • Line management experience.
  • Bid management experience, understanding the different skills needed for bid management compared to bid writing.

Holiday Entitlement

24 days per year (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day for each full year of service to a maximum of 30 days per year.
