Our client, a leading national hazardous waste treatment company, is looking to recruit a Technical Waste Assessor to be based at its hazardous waste treatment facility in the North West. In this role, you will ensure that all incoming & outgoing waste is correctly classified and that an auditable trail of records is maintained according to site procedures.


Key Accountabilities:

    Follow site pre-acceptance, acceptance, sampling & compatibility procedures according to WM3 to technically assess waste enquiries. Ensure sufficient information is supplied, including samples where required. Ensure all information required for quoting, transport & acceptance is logged on the system. Understand site processing capabilities to enable routing of waste. Request pre-acceptance samples, ensure these are logged onto the system, and advise on pre-acceptance analysis requirements Ensure compliance of all waste quotes with site permits & waste management licences. To liaise closely with the Central Customer Services, Sales and Operational functions to ensure smooth and efficient operation. Ensure pre-acceptance information is complete and available at time of acceptance, including plant & route. Advise on transport, labelling & consignment note requirements. Review completed waste acceptance documentation to ensure routes and costs have been allocated correctly. Inform sales managers of non-conformances and communicate reasons for surcharges or rejections.

Essential Requirements:

    Degree in chemistry or related subject Knowledge of WM3 and ability to apply it to classify waste Understanding of ADR regulations ability to classify waste for transport Confident in the use of IT systems and able to utilise bespoke company IT programs

    Excellent organiser & communicator


Desirable Qualities:

    Working knowledge of the operation of a Waste Treatment Processing Plant Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation Numerate with an understanding of business costing

    Experience of Salesforce or other CRM or Waste Management IT system
