Senior Contaminated Land Specialist (Permanent, Full Time)

Position Description:

We are currently seeking a Contaminated Land Specialist; to take a senior role within a small team of Geo-environmental Specialists, undertaking Phase 1 and Phase 2 Site Investigation and Phase 3 Remediation / Validation projects throughout the UK, based at our Head Office in West Sussex. 

This will include involvement in the day to day management of the deliverables of our Geo-environmental Department, aiding in the procurement of work, managing site operations, the production of succinct and accurate excavation logs, appropriate sampling, scheduling of testing and production of Phase 1 – Phase 3 Factual and Interpretive Reports.

We consider the position to be suitable for an experienced project engineer working within development biased Site Investigation who is seeking their first senior role within the industry. The role will report directly to the Principal Engineers within the Site Investigation division.

Required Skills:

The successful applicant should be qualified to undergraduate level in Contaminated Land / Environmental Science and have a minimum of 4-5 years postgraduate experience in Contaminated Land assessment. A Post Graduate degree level qualification in a related discipline is desirable, but not essential. 

The applicant should be able to show experience of managing site works, appropriate sampling techniques and logging soils / rocks to current British Standards. Applicants should also show experience of the production of factual and interpretive reports, including CSMs.

A strong work and team ethic are essential; the applicant should be adaptable and capable of managing their own workload to produce a consistent and quality service to our clients' requirements. Strong written and spoken communication skills are also considered of paramount importance.

The job role will involve travel to investigation sites and applicants should hold a clean UK driving license. Transport to site will be provided. Applicants should be prepared to attend training courses and work in a variety of environments, including Road / Rail projects. Unsociable hours working such as night shift and weekend working should be expected.
