Our client is a global leader in environmental consultancy delivering major buildings and infrastructure projects across the UK. After an excellent start to the year, and further projected growth in turnover and staffing levels, they are now looking to make a strategic appointment into their Geotechnical team at Technical Director Level. From your base in the Bristol office, you’ll work alongside environmental and engineering colleagues whilst collaborating with colleagues in Cardiff, to step into the role of geotechnical specialist for the South West business unit.

This role would suit individuals who are looking to combine both technical and operational aspects of geotechnical consultancy into their careers. You’ll have experience of delivering technically challenging work to clients but crucially will also be passionate about the development of your staff their interaction with the wider business.

What will you be doing?

Your position as Technical Director of the Bristol and Cardiff geotechnical team, will see you will lead, manage and develop members of your team to deliver projects locally and nationally from the south west.

You will proactively manage projects, allocating resources and managing subcontractors and sub-consultants. You will be directing and working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design. In reward for your efforts, you’ll have a place on the Senior Management Team, working in partnership with select senior staff to build on the team’s success and ensure future security and growth for the team.

What do you need?

* Geology or Civil Engineering first degree and be Professionally Qualified (CGeol, MICE, MIMM)
* Proven extensive experience of managing geotechnical inputs for infrastructure projects, ideally across rail and highways sectors
* Experience of preparing geotechnical / engineering geology aspects of bids and wider business development initiatives
* A passion for team management and staff development.
