About May Walters

May Walters is a boutique search consultancy specialising in senior positions within the environmental sector.

The Client

An opportunity has arisen with our client, an established consultancy for an individual to join the team in a key senior position.

Our client is a well regarded independent consultancy delivering multi disciplinary services into a number of markets throughout the UK, with the group having a global footprint.  They have a reputation for outstanding technical acumen and delivery of complex solutions into a number of sectors including utilities, development and energy & infrastructure and can boast interesting and high profile projects.  They are established and have a reputation in the market for delivering engineering, land quality assessment services, geotechnical assessment and land & groundwater water assessment services geared around site development.  The development division is the fastest growing division within the organisation and rapid expansion and promotion of existing staff has enabled the organisation to create a further key role.

Forming part of the management team, a motivated individual is sought, who will play a leading role to lead and grow a team of geo-environmentalists.  It would be expected that the successful individual would take the lead on developing and delivery of larger accounts and setting the strategy for developing the office in addition to operationally managing the existing business.  Much of the potential for growth of these larger accounts is via development of established contacts within the existing business.

The Individual

The successful individual would be based within London, or within striking distance to Bristol.

They would be expected to have;

  • Have 10+ years experience working as a consultant or contractor within the Geo-Environmental Sector within the UK
  • Appropriate qualifications and charterships, or be progressing such
  • The ability to demonstrate delivering geo-environmental projects to a high quality
  • Have strong and up-to-date understanding of relevant regulatory regimes and legislation within the UK.
  • Have a track record of developing clients within the industry

The Role

The successful individual report directly to the Environmental Director and will form a key part of the senior management team within the environmental division.  They will play an integral role in managing the geo-environmental team and will have a direct input into the strategic growth plan for the team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing geo-environmental business from an established client base
  • Project Delivery, taking the lead role in effective delivery of the range of land quality based projects, working closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality technical output.
  • Managing project staff members in the successful delivery of projects from initial bid to issue of reports
  • Preparation and review of technical reports
  • Staff management, development and training

In return, a competitive package will be offered but also a chance to develop a rewarding career.

Our client is a unique position currently to expand by capitalising on a previously un-tapped client based by developing geo-environmental services.

Culturally, they have a friendly and autonomous culture which supports and develops people internally, together with the possibility of benefitting from opportunities from the larger group which has a diverse client footprint.

Applications are encouraged from individuals who would value being a part of this and have the desire to make their mark in the industry.
