Our client is a well-established, independently owned business focussing on skip hire, Plant hire, demolition, waste removal and recycling services. Due to a period of growth, a new vacancy has arisen within the Plant hire division for an Assistant Depot Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Standing in to take on Manager's duties when away, including daily management & coordination of all operations, logistics & maintenance. Starting early / finishing late when Manager is away to unlock / lock, manage drivers (including reporting/inspections).
  • Support staffing/resources with communication, recruitment and development of a motivated team (dealing with any issues as required). Calculation of monthly sales commission. Conduct return to work and disciplinary interviews.
  • Understand budgets and depot financial targets and costs.
  • Input regarding operations & introduce corrective actions.
  • Support purchasing of all depot equipment, tools, general orders & hire fleet.  Oversee the completeness of all paperwork & ensure that the procedures for all contracts, purchase orders stock transfers etc are followed correctly. Stocking and maintaining sales goods. Ordering sales stock and adding to Plant register and Syrinx.
  • Ensure all aspects of work & processes comply with health & safety guidelines.
  • Prompt completion of relevant reports: cash summaries, customer queries, stock takes, employee attendance etc. Create depot weekly management reports.
  • Oversee sales team & assist with management of customer accounts if required.
  • Ensure the depot, staff, vehicles, hire fleet & sale items are consistent & promote a professional image to all potential customers in accordance with company standards. Assisting in managing and training of the Hire Controllers.
  • Contact for intruder alarm callouts bringing about key holder responsibilities, including locking / unlocking building and setting / unsetting alarm system
  • Communicating with customers in the shop, on the phone and via email
  • Takes initiative to learn new products and has good understanding of existing range of products.
  • Processing tool and ppe sales within the shop.
  • Trained in Hireguard insurance to promote to customers. Calculating and submit the monthly Hireguard declaration.
  • Delivering equipment at busy times.
  • Partaking in training courses as necessary, possibly in own time. Partaking in promotional events.
  • Assisting with other depots if required.
  • Show and apply competence to comply with all ISOs, health and safety, including hazardous substances, coshh / msds - filing etc.
