About the company:

Eunomia Research & Consulting is an independent and ethical environmental consultancy. We are a mission oriented business and our goal is to be influential in bringing about positive change: we embrace this in all that we do.

We specialise in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, circular economy, low carbon energy, marine planning, natural economy and climate change mitigation. With the continuous increase of environmental issues across today’s headlines, these fields are gaining momentum on a global scale and like our specialisms, we too are growing as a business. Eunomia currently has over 80 employees worldwide, working across a range of offices throughout the UK and Europe, New York and Auckland.

We are appointed advisors to numerous blue-chip companies, private equity funds and lenders. We also work with a broad range of organisations from trans-national bodies such as the OECD, UNEP and the European Union, through to national governments, local authorities and business support organisations (including Scottish Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, WRAP). Our ability to think creatively in a commercial context alongside our reputation for being at the leading edge of emerging environmental policy and good practice, allows us to effectively and efficiently focus our client support and advisory services.

Our desire to lead by example, and our enthusiastic and supportive team, makes Eunomia a stimulating and rewarding place to work.

About Eunomia’s PR and Marketing Team:

Eunomia’s communications team provides PR, marketing and sales support for all areas of the business, helping consultants develop and promote engaging reports, managing Eunomia’s online communication channels and co-ordinating speaking opportunities and attendance at events.

In recent years, the communications team has been achieving national and international headline news coverage for Eunomia, pushing out thought leadership pieces and key messages from research, and in the process influencing governments, industry, NGO’s and the media.

Findings from the following recent reports have reached millions of readers:

Eunomia was also the lead advisor to the much anticipated and recently published, European Commission’s Plastic Strategy. This is just a snapshot of our publications that are attracting attention worldwide.

Job description:

The aim of this role is to give maternity cover for the current PR and Marketing Manager, who is expected to start her leave in late October. Our current estimate is that she will be on leave until late summer 2019.

The PR and Marketing Manager is part of the wider marketing team consisting of: Director with responsibility for marketing, Dominic Hogg, Head of Marketing, Peter Jones, Social Media Coordinator, Charlotte Perkins and a team of copywriters.

Key activities include:

1)       Ongoing

  • Media liaison/PR activity: International, national, trade and regional
  • Developing and delivering marketing/PR campaigns to support market area leads in the delivery of their sales plans
  • Content marketing with the support of our Social Media Coordinator: Monthly newsletter, direct mail, website and social media content across four platforms: Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube
  • Website management
  • Line managing our Social Media Coordinator
  • Managing a team of copywriters to deliver quality marketing content
  • Regular liaison with Dominic Hogg (Director with lead on marketing)
  • Periodic reporting to the Board

2)      Occasional (currently) activities

  • Developing and delivering marketing/PR campaigns as part of projects (this is occasional)
  • PR and marketing content for thought leadership pieces (supporting occasional reports developed internally)
  • Developing briefs and commissioning design work such as infographics and report layout / design, and less frequently, logos and websites (occasional).
  • International PR and marketing strategy and content: supporting Hara Xirou (Brussels) and Sarah Edwards (New York)
  • Event management (usually as part of a team)
  • Event PR and marketing
  • Partnership working (where Eunomia markets outputs / events jointly, or undertakes a coordinated media campaign)
  • Reporting on website statistics, google analytics and press coverage (currently takes place with some support from others)
  • Internal communications (this is not emphasised as a marketing function at present)

The PR and marketing function has developed significantly over recent years. It has moved from a ‘consultant-run’ function to one with two dedicated staff.  The PR and marketing function has been continuously developing, and whilst the applicant would be expected to ensure the function covers the activities above, we are keen to ensure further development and evolution of the function. Consistent with the appointment of the Social Media Coordinator, a key objective is to help PR and marketing to play a stronger role in developing sales. This would be an important part of marketing’s further development: it is also critical to support the career development of the Social Media Coordinator (whose functions are not restricted to social media, and who provides other support across PR and marketing). Finally, it is expected that this would involve close liaison with the Sales lead on the Exec Management Team, and with the lead Director, with a view to providing information for Board level discussions.
