Environment Manager 

Salary: £32,500 to £35,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Hours: Full time 35 hours a week

Location: Westway Trust, W10 5XL

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Associate Director Community Engagement and Environment you will develop and manage a range of environmental programmes in line with Westway Trust’s overall strategy.

You will take responsibility for the development and delivery of a number of initiatives that contribute to Westway Trust’s environmental wellbeing strategy including environmental education, behavioural change programmes and improving the environmental performance of the Trust’s physical infrastructure. 

Principal Accountabilities:

- Oversee the Trust’s environmental programmes in line with the Trust’s agreed strategy
- Commission, develop and manage agreed projects, including flagship initiatives that signal our strategic intent regarding environmental improvement
- Identify opportunities for partnership working with local organisations
- Ensure the planning, development and delivery of our environmental and sustainability education sessions to schools and at community events are of the highest standard
- Input into the development and delivery of an environmental strategy for the Trust
- Support the Trusts tenants to reduce their environmental impact through participation in behavioural change initiatives
- Work with academic partners to identify ways to reduce the impact of air pollution on people living and working in North Kensington
- Identify opportunities to improve the environmental performance of the Trusts buildings
-  Identify and write up suitable case studies as required (e.g. for the Annual Report and the Trust’s website) and explore other ways to measure and demonstrate the impact of the Trust’s grant making
- Deliver education and awareness campaigns on air quality issues.  Actively look for opportunities to promote air quality at community events and as part of local, London wide and national campaigns
- Make positive contributions towards high performance of your team to ensure best outcomes in line with the values of Westway Trust

Person Specifications; 

- Experience of devising, overseeing and managing environmental improvement programmes across a range of functions
- Experience of working with local communities to deliver environmental activities and an ability to communicate with and motivate people
- Clear evidence of sound judgement and of an ability to evaluate options to make appropriate recommendations.
- Excellent IT skills, ability to gather information and report meaningful outputs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present recommendations to senior stakeholders 
- Experience in prioritising competing demands and workloads.
- Team working and influencing skills with an eye for detail
- Relevant qualification or comparable professional experience in grant making 
- Demonstrative understanding of the needs of diverse communities and commitment to equality of opportunity
- Connections to/ understanding of the local area would be highly desirable.
