AECOM is looking to employ a Hydrologist within our growing Water team in Basingstoke. The candidate will have some consultancy experience and will be expected to build upon their skills already gained in consultancy to deliver hydrological inputs across a range of projects. You will be joining a team with diverse skills and there will be opportunities to gain further training across a range of areas. Key responsibilities will include supporting principal hydrologists in the provision of hydrological inputs and supporting the team in the delivery of projects.

Job Duties:

  • Provision of hydrological inputs to a wide range of projects to support flood risk estimation, water resources, water cycle studies and environmental impact assessments;
  • Report writing;
  • Liaising with colleagues both within water and across a range of disciplines.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in the application of FEH software (WINFAP-FEH, ReFH1 and ReFH2);
  • Good report writing skills;
  • Good numeracy skills;
  • Independent working;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, MapInfo or QGIS);
  • Experience in consultancy.

Optional skills:

  • Experience of water resource or low flow studies;
  • Experience of fluvial modelling (e.g. Hec-Ras, Flood Modeller, TuFlow)
  • Experience of urban drainage

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You will hold a relevant degree in Geography, Physical Sciences or Civil Engineering and ideally a Masters or PhD in Hydrology;
  • You will be working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g CIWEM or ICE).
