Our client is an independent and ethical environmental consultancy, specialising in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, circular economy, low carbon energy, marine planning, natural economy and climate change mitigation. A vacancy currently exists for a Senior Project Manager to manage a range of high profile consultancy projects predominantly in the areas of waste operations and resources management. You will work on projects primarily for local authorities, but also for national government bodies and waste management companies. You will manage multiple projects at a given time, ensuring delivery of high-quality products within budget, which meet the client’s requirements and that provide a lead-in to obtaining further work. 

Essential requirements:

At least four years industry experience managing complex projects, demonstrating strong project management skills;

Relevant sector experience to include an operational understanding of how local authority waste and recycling collection services are delivered;

The ability to manage multiple clients, stakeholders and projects simultaneously;

Experience of project management in relation to professional services and/or consulting to local government/UK public sector, or experience working inside local government;

Experience of managing projects where a significant level or change/transition is being implemented;

Excellent organisational and communication skills;

The ability to support key staff in managing their own input into projects;

Ability to think critically and strategically;

Strong report writing expertise and excellent written English;

A high level of commercial awareness;

Strong IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office software;

Willingness to ‘muck-in’ and carry out a range of tasks as required 


Desirable attributes:

Experience in setting project budgets;

Experience in formulating proposals for consultancy projects and for bidding for similar projects;

A project management qualification or accreditation (e.g. PRINCE2 or MSP, APM membership);

Business development and networking skills
