About May Walters

May Walters is a boutique search consultancy specialising in senior positions within the environmental sector.

The Client

An opportunity has arisen with our client, an expanding global consultancy for an individual to join and play a defining role in the expansion of the consultancy within the midlands region of the UK.

Our client is a leading global multi disciplinary with a reputation of delivering high value and complex solutions to clients.  The environmental division is expanding and has an established trusted relationship with clients, delivering advisory work across a number of sectors including but not limited to major infrastructure, oil & gas and manufacturing.

Their UK business employs engineering and environmental specialists based from a number of locations, and covers a breadth of consulting services structured around service areas from geo-environmental and complex remediation, transactional solutions, compliance and environmental impact projects and sustainability through to project finance work.  The extensive client base includes global multinationals, local and central government and international institutions and ranges from local and international development work through to the large high profile projects.

The Role

A senior individual is required to lead and develop the environmental division within the midlands region, operating from a newly formed office in Birmingham.  Working in conjunction with other regional environmental and other disciplinary heads of divisions, together with industry specialist market sector leads, the role would entail developing en existing team to capitalise on the increase in business potential which is already ramping up from the region via large infrastructure projects in addition to supporting local projects.  The role is seen as key to link up existing southern and northern teams and provide leadership in an area where considerable resource is going to be invested over the next few years.  In this respect, it is anticipated that the successful individual would have considerable influence in defining the growth strategy of the midlands region and would be given the freedom to make it their own.

With a reporting line directly to the environmental board with close visibility of the Global Board, primary responsibilities will include taking a lead on defining the strategy of growth and development of the region in line with the strategy.  It is anticipated that client liaison and development would form a large part of the role together with overseeing the delivery of key projects and mentoring developing the team.

The Individual

Applications are welcomed from individuals who can demonstrate success in winning and delivering EIA or associated projects within the UK.  The drive and enthusiasm to to capitalise on this opportunity of playing a key role would be equally as important and therefore this would not preclude any individuals who would see this as a developmental step up in their career and are hungry to make their mark in the industry.

This is a high profile role in a respected organisation.  Our client has had a particularly good year in terms growth and has a well established footprint of loyal clients, typically providing an interesting variety of projects and the midlands region will be a focus for development with the potential to attract much of resource to fuel growth over the next few years.

For the right individual a financial package would be structured around their requirements.
