The PTA has responsibility for delivering the technical support to the project that is aligned with the projects budget and programme. This includes layout design, wind speed predictions and energy yields, GIS analysis and constraint mapping, noise analysis and stakeholder engagement.

During Turbine contract execution, the PTA will be required to support the Turbine Engineering function monitoring performance of the turbine supplier against the contract. This involves site visits and inspections, discussions with the Turbine Supplier, be they technical, engineering, or commercial, seeking support from project management or specialists within the project team and escalating issues as required.

The PTA reports to a Project Manager but will provide project support across all regions in the UK.

Key Accountabilities:

* quality control of wind/solar/acoustic data prior to analysis
* wind/solar resource assessments for UK projects
* linear & non-linear (CFD) wind flow modelling.
* Technical support for storage projects where required
* time series modelling of resource (wind and solar), for assessment of grid, and other, constraints
* acoustic assessments
* shadow flicker assessments
* turbine layout design (wind farms) and PV panel layout designs (solar farms)
* technical support for Environmental Impact Assessments
* technical input into turbine supply and PV panel agreements
* liaison with RES Measurement Services
* adhering to best practice for all of the above technical assessments
* developing relationships inside RES to maintain a high level of knowledge and competency
* technical support for transactions and closing projects including management of technical due diligence and condition compliance
* ad hoc analysis and tool development using Python programming language and SQL.
* continuous improvement of technical process within the UK team
* Upkeep of project GIS models
* Add value and reduce costs (DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX) for projects ensuring project viability on a subsidy free basis through efficient working, careful scoping, procurement and innovative engineering and design solutions

Additional accountabilities When supporting Turbine Engineering Function:

* Responsible for supporting the delivery of the technical content of the TSA to a jointly agreed cost and timescale with the Project Manager
* Identifying and supporting in the implementation of cost saving ideas relating to the wind turbine works and interfaces that add value to the project through engagement with the Turbine Supplier, and maintain records of these
* Prior to fixing the turbine layout, assess suitability of turbine for site conditions and assist in
* maximising project value and likelihood of realisation by identifying potential risks, with the support of the Project Team
* Support the Project team in monitoring and reporting on progress by the turbine supplier (on and off-site)
* Responsible for supporting the management and resolution of technical or engineering related issues and enquiries with the turbine and its interface with the grid, SCADA, foundation and conditions on site, with support as required from the project team
* Supporting the transition of the management of the wind turbine contracts from the project delivery team to the generation team, including supporting the transition between the Turbine Supplier and the Operations and Maintenance agreement supplier.

* Ability and qualification to work at height


* Experience of wind/solar analysis & resource assessment, wind flow modelling, acoustic analysis, statistical analysis, project technical work and programming with Python. Also experience of compiling / administering technical specifications and contractual documentation will be advantageous.


* Degree level qualification in Physics,
* Mathematics, Engineering Science or related discipline or equivalent level of professional experience.
