An opportunity has arisen with our client, a consultancy multidisciplinary consultancy in the UK, for an individual to join and lead an existing team.

The Company

Our client, a multidisciplinary consultancy employs over 400 technical professionals and support staff located in numerous offices throughout the UK but also with a presence internationally within the emerging markets

The UK business has been established for over 50 years and provides integrated services to a range of clients with an engineering and environmental focus and they deliver services to a broad cross section of organisations from the corporate, property and the industrial sectors.  The acoustics team is well regarded within the industry delivering architectural and environmental services

The last 5 years has seen impressive growth in a number of sectors and the organisation has grown substantially by acquisition and the organic development of new offices.  An increased workload has has resulted in a new appointment of a Senior/Principal consultant within their London office who can contribute to the development of the office.  

The Role

The existing team of 5 staff has increased the level of business, predominantly within the south east and opportunities exist for developing further business, to be lead by the existing Principal.  A Principal Designate is required to work with the existing management to take over responsibility for managing and developing the Central London team and overseeing the existing workload, thereby allowing the existing Principal to spend more time developing further larger projects.  Currently the workload is split between building and environmental projects and vary in size to provide a good variety. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Overseeing management of projects to ensure successful delivery to clients

Managing, mentoring and developing a team of 4 staff

Preparing proposals for clients and prospects including formulation of work scopes and budgets

Support the current Principal in developing tendering for some of the larger projects


Required Qualifications and Skills:

BSc or higher (preferably post-graduate qualification, such as MSc) in a related discipline

Anticipated a minimum of 6 years of UK consulting experience

Full Member of the Institute of Acoustic (IOA), or qualification to become such a member

Strong technical background knowledge within acoustics and vibration, either environmental or building oriented

Excellent organisation, leadership, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills

Ability to work independently or in a project team with excellent problem solving, writing, and presenting skills

The position is located in a London office.  Due to the nature of the work and the knowledge required, consideration would be towards people who have a track record of working within the UK environment, ideally within the South East.
