About the company:

Eunomia Research & Consulting is an independent and ethical environmental consultancy. We are a mission oriented business and our goal is to be influential in bringing about positive change: we embrace this in all that we do.

We specialise in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, circular economy, low carbon energy, marine planning, natural economy and climate change mitigation. With the continuous growth in prominence of environmental issues across today’s headlines, these fields are gaining momentum on a global scale and like our specialisms, we too are growing as a business. Eunomia currently has over 70 employees worldwide, working across a range of offices throughout the UK and Europe, New York and Auckland.

We work with a broad range of organisations from trans-national bodies such as the OECD, UNEP and the European Union, through to national governments, local authorities and business support organisations (including Scottish Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, WRAP). We are also appointed advisors to numerous blue-chip companies, private equity funds and lenders. Our ability to think creatively in a commercial context alongside our reputation for being at the leading edge of emerging environmental policy and good practice, allows us to effectively and efficiently focus our client support and advisory services.

Our desire to lead by example, and our enthusiastic and supportive team, makes Eunomia a stimulating and rewarding place to work.

Job description:

The successful candidate will help manage and deliver projects across a range of topic areas including air quality, waste and resource management, marine plastics and microplastics, environmental policy design, energy and sustainable business. It is not essential to have a deep understanding of all of these issues: the primary role is project management, but our in-house training will also enable the successful applicants to develop their knowledge and understanding as required. What is essential is that the candidate can identify the key strategic issues, and can challenge those delivering the detail to ensure that it can be translated into key messages with which the client can engage.

Key activities may include:

  • Project management of multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Liaison with the Project Director on strategic project issues;
  • Assignment of team responsibilities;
  • Ensuring timely technical project input is received from technical leads;
  • Client management of a wide range of organisations, from small businesses and NGOs, to government agencies (WRAP, Defra etc), large multinational companies, trade associations and the European Commission;
  • Ongoing communication with members of the policy team, and others across the company;
  • Co-ordination and delivery of tasks in order to meet the required outcomes of the project;
  • Management of the information required for our integrated project management tool Oracle Netsuite;
  • Ensuring project documents are complete and current;
  • Regular financial tracking, reporting and initiating corrective actions if required;
  • Management of framework contracts; and
  • Share best practice of project management processes through membership of the Company’s project management working group.

Secondary activities may be required on an ad hoc basis, such as:

  • Delivery of policy work across a range of relevant topic areas;
  • Research, including industry consultations and stakeholder workshops;
  • Report writing and presentation of results; and
  • Reactive bid management.

Training to develop key skills and competences will be part of the job to ensure continued professional development.

Key relationships:

  • Project Managers and Directors;
  • Policy team Principal Consultants;
  • Other company staff;
  • Clients; and
  • Prospective clients.

Reports to:

Principal Consultant.

Candidates are expected to be self-disciplined and well organised. They should be able to present themselves in a professional manner. A personal interest in, and commitment to, environmental and sustainability issues is expected.
