Our People Are Our Greatest Resource

Engineering Apprentice – Trident Park Energy Recovery Facility (ERF), Cardiff

Salary - £10,892 per annum

At Viridor, we're one of the UK's leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies and part of the FTSE 250 Pennon Group. We put waste into action, transforming it into high quality recyclables, raw materials and energy and are at the forefront of the UK's green economy. Fast growing and investing over £1.2bn in the development of a network of advanced Energy Recovery Facilities (ERF) across the UK, we're reducing the reliance on landfill or exporting waste for treatment whilst becoming a revenue generating business.

We're giving the world's resources new life. Whether those resources are collected by our vehicles from a primary school in Kent or delivered into our ERF in Runcorn, we transform ‘waste' into the items and energy that society will need tomorrow.

It's at our Trident Park ERF that we currently have an exciting opportunity to join us on an Engineering Apprenticeship. We'll work with you and develop you to become a highly skilled maintenance technician or engineer who'll help to maintain our state of the art electro/mechanical systems used in our ERFs.

Our Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme will take approximately four years to complete whereby you'll also benefit from vocational training as well as study for a Technical Certificate at a local provider. During this time, you'll become qualified to carry out planned preventative maintenance; general maintenance of equipment; modifying and testing; inspecting condition-based monitoring and identifying faults within our systems.

Becoming our Engineering Apprentice will require commitment to a comprehensive training programme, ‘on the job' training and the completion of a portfolio of evidence to support an NVQ Diploma (or equivalent). Therefore, we're looking for someone who has a ‘can-do' attitude, a flexible and proactive approach to tasks alongside a keen willingness to learn and the drive to succeed.

You'll have, or expect to achieve, five GCSEs (or equivalent) which must include English, Maths, and a Science at Grade C or above as well as two further GCSEs at Grade C or above. You'll also have a good standard of IT skills and/or Microsoft Office knowledge.

This is an exciting time to join Viridor and our fast-growing business.

If you want to work within in a team-orientated and collaborative environment, for a company that strives to be environmentally, socially and economically sustainable, as our Engineering Apprentice, please APPLY now.

Closing Date: 30th April 2019. It will be an August / September start date.
