Engineering and Maintenance Graduate
Recycling and Integrated Assets
Location: North England (Manchester, Sheffield); Scotland (Bargeddie) and South England (Crayford, Ford, Rochester, Plymouth).
Salary: £27,000

At Viridor, we're one of the UK's leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies and part of the FTSE 250 Pennon Group. We put waste into action, transforming it into high quality recyclables, raw materials and energy and are at the forefront of the UK's green economy.

The wide range of recycling treatment technologies we use, including advanced and standard materials recycling facilities, mechanical biological treatment plants, composting and household waste recycling centres, means that we are able to put more of society's waste into action.

Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs) process large volumes of municipal, commercial and industrial dry mixed materials to produce a range of high quality recyclable outputs. A combination of advanced mechanical sorting techniques and manual quality control is used to separate the materials so that they can be reprocessed into new products.

The primary role of the Engineering and Maintenance Graduate will be to support the WorkSmart delivery, engineering, maintenance and process engineering teams in the development and delivery of maintenance and optimisation projects across the Recycling & Integrated Assets (R&IA) business.

You will provide technical/engineering support and expertise to the site teams throughout the maintenance improvement, optimisation and asset replacement projects leading to increased safety, plant performance, quality and capacity across the MRF, glass, plastics and polymers recycling assets. You'll also ensure that all plant and equipment on site is maintained, repaired or modified as necessary to maximise equipment availability, performance and the output levels required to meet the production demands.

As our Engineering and Maintenance Graduate, you'll have secured a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Process or Mechanical) and completed process engineering and/or maintenance exercises or the practical application of these. You'll have sound understanding of Health and Safety legislation and process and maintenance improvement with a keen interest in new technologies, at all times championing an approach that facilitates continuous improvement. Previous experience in process engineering or within the recycling and waste management industry would be advantageous.

It is important that the successful Engineering and Maintenance Graduate joining us in this role demonstrates some commercial awareness, is able to think logically and identify root causes whilst providing solutions. You'll have strong analytical and communication skills, able to balance and deliver against conflicting priorities and deadlines, and be self-motivated, taking an innovative approach and support new technologies where appropriate.

As this role will require working alongside multiple stakeholders, teams and management both internal and external, strong relationship building skills are essential and high levels of resilience, drive and tenacity will be key.

We are looking for 1 Engineering and Maintenance Graduate to be based in the North and 1 to be based in the South; Locations could include: North England (Manchester, Sheffield); Scotland (Bargeddie) and South England (Crayford, Ford, Rochester, Plymouth).

This is an exciting opportunity to join our fast-growing business and be a part of how we're shaping the future.

Closing date is 5.30pm, 1st June 2019. Assessments and selection stages will take place between June and August 2019. Intake date is early October 2019.
