Job Summary

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative individual keen to work collaboratively and iteratively within an established acoustics team. The successful candidate would also work across wider multi-disciplinary design teams and be expected to establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams, particularly within AECOM’s Building and Places teams.

  • The individual would have excellent technical, , presentation, report writing, personal organisation and communication skills.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to work and maintain relationships with both internal and external clients;

  • The position will be based in our St Albans office; however there will be the need for visit sites and attend meetings across the UK and work away from home for short periods, potentially including overseas.

Duties

  • Conduct field measurements as needed to document acoustical data

  • Noise and vibration measurement surveys

  • Calculation and assessment of buildings and architectural acoustics

  • Computer modelling predictions and optimisations

  • Prepare proposals and reports

  • Participate in project meetings

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in the post we are looking for candidates with:

  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, a team approach and customer focus,

  • Relevant consultancy experience in the fields of building/ architectural acoustics for a variety of project types and sizes,

  • Proven ability to deliver client expectations to budget and timescale,

  • Excellent technical report writing, personal organization and communication skills,

  • Experience of acoustic prediction using both spreadsheets and industry recognized software,

  • Be familiar with acoustic modelling software,

  • Full, clean UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

A first degree (and preferably a post graduate qualification such as a Masters) in acoustics or relevant technical disciplines (e.g. Physics, Maths or Engineering)

  • MIOA or AMIOA and working towards MIOA

  • Chartered status or evidence of working towards this.
