AECOM’s International Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Practice Area is looking to recruit a French speaking Social Consultant with good international experience to join our team based in London or the South East. In particular, we are looking for an individual who is able to work on projects in Francophone Africa.

Job Duties:

Working as either a member of a multidisciplinary team, or directly for clients, you will work on social components of projects. This may include:

  • social baseline surveys

  • engaging with affected communities and stakeholders (including in French)

  • conducting assessments of social impacts

  • defining mitigation measures

  • determining permitting and regulatory compliance

  • developing social management plans

  • preparing and implementing RAPs and LRPs

  • developing community investment programmes

  • preparing and implementing community & stakeholder engagement plans

  • task management, including coordination and budgeting

  • working with colleagues on proposals

  • delivering work through clearly written reports (in French and English), and as part of the project team, presentations to clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Fluency in French language (written and spoken)

  • You must have international experience outside of the UK, good French speaking and French reporting writing skills, experience of environmental or social impact assessment and understanding of international finance E&S standards (such as IFC, Equator Principles, World Bank E&S Framework, EBRD).

Preferred Qualifications

  • You must have international experience outside of the UK, good French speaking and French reporting writing skills, experience of environmental or social impact assessment and understanding of international finance E&S standards (such as IFC, Equator Principles, World Bank E&S Framework, EBRD).

  • Fluency in spoken French is essential. Other languages, particularly Spanish and Arabic, would be advantageous.

  • You will be required to travel internationally, occasionally at short notice, but will be UK based.

  • The successful candidate would ideally have a post-graduate qualification related to social development or environmental management. Candidates with a relevant under-graduate degree and a comprehensive level of practical experience will also be considered.
