AECOM is currently recruiting for a SHE Manager within the South East. To be based from either St Albans, London Aldgate or Croydon. Our current project is based in the Essex / Kent region and site allowances and accommodation can be provided.

We are flexible on whether the candidate is permanent or employed on a fixed term basis, due to a strong pipeline of future work. Equally we would be interested to hear from Contractors to work on the project for 8-9 months starting June 2019.

As a SHE Manager you will advise and support managers and engineers on SHE at all stages of a construction project and support the business line by ensuring that strategy, systems and processes are implemented and followed meeting expectations both internally and externally.

Job Duties:

  • Supporting SHE Director to normalize approach to project delivery across geotechnical, remediation, hydrogeology, ecology and archaeology disciplines in particular

  • Provide SHE support to designated construction projects to ensure compliance with AECOM and legal requirements including CDM compliance, Safety in Design, SHE Plans, supply chain management, CPP, PCI, RAMS, and ensuring fulfilment of requirements in role as Principal Contractor or Principal Designer.

  • Provide advice, support and training on compliance with relevant (legal and company) SH&E requirements at all stages of a project.

  • Promote and act as role model in the development of a culture where all individuals and teams provide positive input into SH&E management in their workplace.

  • Provide SHE key performance indicator data for assigned projects through specialist metrics within the Environment and Ground Engineering area of business.

  • Report using (SHEQ Improvement Database, Industry Safe and Lifeguard) and investigate SHE incidents to ensure root causes are identified, and corrective actions are agreed and implemented to control risks and improve standards.

  • Provide and analyse SH&E incident data and information (including alerts and lessons learnt), using company systems (SHEQ Improvement Database, Industry Safe and Lifeguard) to ensure continuous improvement and development of best practice.

  • Deliver SH&E training modules to staff to continually improve knowledge of SHE matters relating to the business, e.g. construction risk, SH&E law, procedures, etc.

  • Conduct SH&E audits of projects and management systems and concisely asses levels of compliance with current company and legal requirements.

  • Develop and apply technical knowledge relevant to the specific SH&E risks associated with our activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • The successful candidates should meet the following requirements,

  • Working at a suitable level within safety for a main contractor / consultant.

  • Self-starter and driven individual, someone who motivates themselves and can do so for others.

  • Pro-active and committed.

  • Commercial acumen and project management skills.

  • Ability to influence and engage with colleagues.

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate minimum, plus occupational relevant qualifications.

  • TECHIOSH / GRADIOSH / CMIOSH

  • Experience working within health and safety within the Gi and Remediation Industry for a principal or tier 1 contractor

  • Experience of working on high profile projects within an industry leading health, safety and environmental management system

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMIOSH and relevant NEBOSH qualifications. It is essential that applicants have extensive relevant construction industry experience including delivering construction phase work within CDM Principal Contractor for projects involving remediation, archaeology and ground investigation as well as undertaking the role of CDM Principal Consultant for environmental services.
