AECOM’s UK Environment & Planning team is looking to recruit an Associate Director EIA professional with 12+ years’ experience to join our Cardiff team. The successful candidate will have a track-record of successful project delivery, client management and business development. In particular, we are looking for an individual with experience in urban regeneration and highways projects, though additional experience in other sectors would be beneficial.

We are looking for someone that will be able to join a vibrant and diverse team; helping us to continue to deliver a high quality service to existing clients and to expand our market share in established and new development sectors. The EIA Consultant will deliver consultancy and advisory services to both internal and external clients to a high level of technical quality and to programme and budget.

Your main role will be to support environmental assessments for development projects such that they are able to successfully progress through the applicable consenting process. You will be part of the very successful Bristol EIA team.

You will also play a supporting role in the further development of our Environment and Planning business.

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • An excellent understanding of the EIA processes (including screening and scoping), environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation.

  • Excellent team working, report writing, technical reviewing and communication skills – with an attention to detail.

  • Excellent project management skills, including programming, and budget/ financial management.

  • Self-motivation and the confidence, ability and experience to provide clear, authoritative advice.

  • Full driving licence and a willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant environmental discipline. Post-graduate degree an advantage.

  • Appropriate professional membership
