AECOM are looking to recruit a Senior Environmental Consultant/Project Manager to join our established ELS Remediation Services team based in our Glasgow office delivering professional consulting services to internal and external clients, primarily consisting of proposal preparation, managing desk studies, soil and groundwater site investigations and remediation in relation to contaminated land and remediation projects in Scotland and the UK (including project management, coordination of staff/subcontractors and client liaison).

The Remediation Services team is part of a larger environmental team in the UK & Ireland comprising over 200 environmental specialists including EIA, planning, permitting, noise, contaminated land, waste and hydrogeological consultants. The current Scottish remediation technical team is mainly based in Glasgow with a presence in Edinburgh and comprises geologists, hydrogeologists, risk assessors and environmental scientists from junior to technical director levels.

In Scotland we generally work for private sector industrial clients and public sector bodies in terms of brownfield redevelopment, soil waste management, environmental permitting/compliance and remediation of contaminated sites. We also carry out environmental due diligence services in relation to property transactions. We work on a variety of exciting projects, both in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for scoping, preparing and delivering contaminated land assessment projects

  • Liaison with AECOM contaminated land assessment teams in the UK&I

  • Project management and supervision/mentoring of junior staff

  • Health and Safety aspects of site work project

  • Developing proposals for desk studies, ground investigations and remediation projects.

  • Managing project set up, implementation and finances

  • Liaising with clients

  • Coordinating field service subcontractors and laboratory services

  • Being familiar with AECOM quality management system and ensure its effective implementation by the team for all projects and proposals

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in the role we are looking for candidates with the following;

  • Relevant experience in industry/consultancy preferred

  • Project management and client-facing experience (business development experience would be preferable)

  • Field investigation experience (including drilling, working with subcontractors, collecting groundwater and vapour data/samples)

  • Experience of working in a corporate environment (within/outside of environmental consultancy)

  • Self-starting and highly motivated approach to work


  • Good understanding of contaminated land investigations, data review and risk assessment

  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications


  • Strong team worker – able to listen to requirements and work well with
