Our London Croydon-based Remediation Services team is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Consultant to join us in our work on contaminated land investigation and remediation projects across the south-east of England and beyond. Our projects cover a wide range of client sectors including property developers, oil & gas, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, the nuclear industry and government agencies; including the Environment Agency, Homes England, Highways England and local authorities.

We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with an individual offering fieldwork skills and a desire to further develop these skills along with the development of wider site management capabilities. The individual must also have an initial understanding of the wider contaminated land assessment process and a desire to develop their risk assessment and report writing capabilities as part of their career progression at AECOM.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of site investigation, risk assessment and remediation projects associated with brownfield land and site redevelopment, industrial permitting and compliance, transaction due diligence, and multi-site portfolio management.

Specific responsibilities include:

ensuring that health and safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project

co-ordinating field–based subcontractors and supervising ground investigation works including the management of site H&S and the oversight of contractors

collection of soil, groundwater and gas samples/data during assessment and remedial action activities at various sites in the UK

co-ordinating with laboratories to secure appropriate analysis and in a timetable consistent with project requirements

completion of borehole logs for utilisation in site review and reporting

compilation and interpretation of field and analytical data into accurate and comprehensive conceptual site models

learning the AECOM quality management system and ensure its effective implementation by the team for all projects and proposals

working within a team, undertaking desk studies, site investigations, laboratory procurement for environmental analysis, data analysis, factual and interpretative report writing

assisting project managers in developing proposals for ground investigations and remediation projects

Experience:

Previous experience of safely completing site investigation, monitoring and sampling and managing subcontractors is essential

Experience of contaminated land data assessment and interpretation, CSM development, risk assessment, and reporting will be directly relevant to the role, and is therefore an advantage
