AECOM is seeking a Project Manager to support the busy Central England ecology team in the delivery of major infrastructure projects. We are very focussed on quality and continual process improvement and so we are looking for an individual to implement streamlined processes and technological change, initially within specific projects and later across the whole regional business. In brief, we are looking to review, and refine our data management processes using new database technologies.

The role will be based in our vibrant Nottingham office working on high profile, challenging and innovative projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your career within an established and successful business that has welfare and wellbeing as core values.

The Central England Ecology Team is unique in that whilst we enjoy the benefits and security of a large corporation, we work as a small close-knit ecology consultancy and understand the importance of welfare and wellbeing. We have mentors within the team who provide support at a personal level and guide the development of skills and experience. There is a programme of internal training courses and a generous budget for external training aligned to your professional development goals. We promote a healthy work-life balance: we offer flexible working hours to suit your commitments, and fun social team activities throughout the year as well as free weekly Pilates classes.

You will be given the platform to provide additional project management support from a non- technical background as well as limited technical support to build a firm and broader understanding of ecology which will enable their development as an ecology project manager

The ideal person will be highly motivated, pro-active, focused and organized, with an eye for detail and good communication skills. They may also, ideally, have a keen interest in wildlife and conservation and be keen to understand the ecological work being managed. This will create added value through a deeper understanding of the wider Ecology business.

Job Duties:

  • Work with our regional ecology technical leads to support delivery of projects and maintenance of the highest standards of quality in everything we do.

  • Build and manage relationships with trusted suppliers in the ecological arena to support the resourcing of field activities on projects;

  • Work with others in the regional team to deploy the newly designed Survey Management Platform across regional and national projects.

  • Contribute to all aspects of ecological project management such as: bidding, commercial budgeting, planning, resourcing, scheduling and programming.

  • Review and approve client deliverables.

  • Quality management across all aspect of project delivery

  • Contribute to the continued improvement of Health & Safety systems and protocols employed by the team

  • Propose and evaluate technical innovation with colleagues.

Specific Skills Required :

  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, databases)

  • Self-starter, pro-active and motivated

  • Detail oriented and results-driven. Committed to delivering complex tasks on time and on budget. Experienced in pre-empting potential programme risks, identifying relevant mitigation measures and implementing these in a timely manner;

  • Ability to remain focussed and productive through sustained periods of high pressure and workload;

  • Good communication and facilitation skills

Minimum Requirements

  • A background in engineering and experience of working on large infrastructure projects would be preferable. Significant process improvement experience would be advantageous. An interest in British wildlife and the natural environment is optional but would add real value.
