providing our clients with the full range of ecological services including specialist habitat and species surveys, impact assessment, advice on biodiversity mitigation, offsetting and enhancement and management planning for biodiversity. Our projects include high profile major transport and other infrastructure, as well as other industrial, commercial and residential development projects.

Job Summary

  • The role requires knowledge and experience in biodiversity and green infrastructure, biodiversity net gain, ecosystem services and natural capital, especially in relation to land-use and planning in the UK for infrastructure, commercial, power and other development projects. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with a history of successfully working in a consultancy environment (or similar) including; through client liaison, within multi-disciplinary teams and completion of projects to a high standard, on time and within budgets.

  • As a consultant with AECOM, you’ll be reliable, hard-working, organised and pro-active, in order to help you manage a busy workload. You will enjoy working as part of a team and have good communication and report-writing skills. The ability to process data and create and manage large datasets would be an advantage, as would experience of using GIS. You will have the opportunity to work on high profile, challenging and innovative projects.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Working as part of the existing network of AECOM ecologists and collaborating with our wider teams to promote sustainable development.;

  • Coordinate input to assessments, and the design and implementation of successful mitigation and compensation strategies for biodiversity, including approaches for delivering green infrastructure and net gain;

  • Building and maintaining both internal and external client relationships, through effective communication including providing responses in accordance with set deadlines;

  • Developing and promoting best practice and innovation across the ecology business;

  • Compliance with internal business management procedures

  • Line Manag

Minimum Requirements

  • A thorough knowledge of the planning system in the UK, and of current position with respect to relevant policy and legislation

  • Experience of working in an environmental job role in the public and / or private sector providing advice to clients and colleagues on the benefits and importance of biodiversity, green infrastructure, natural capital and ecosystem services

  • Experience of inputting to the assessment and/or design on major infrastructure projects to deliver good environmental outcomes

  • Technical proficiency, evidenced by biodiversity inputs to assessments and reports, and to the delivery of projects to a high standard, on time and within budgets;

  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to use clear and appropriate language, communication styles and techniques to provide advice and engage clients, project teams and stakeholders

  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage own time, prioritise comp
