We now have an exciting opportunity to join one of the South West's leading employers as a Chemistry Section Leader based from our Countess Wear site in Exeter.

What will you be doing?

As a Chemistry Section Leader, you will provide a wide range of scientific and analytical expertise in the day to day operation of the laboratory; including daily supervision of staff, allocation of duties, appraisal of performance and direct participation in meeting standards and objectives for the section.

The Chemistry Section Leader will be responsible for advising and communicating with internal and external customers, interpreting and explaining results and answering customer queries. You will check the quality and timeliness of the work of the whole team against set standards and service levels.

You will also diagnose problems with systems and equipment, calibrating equipment and solving problems in order to seek ways to improve efficiency and adapt equipment to changing applications.

Participation in Standby Rota will be required for this role.

What do you need?

 *Relevant degree with significant experience in analytical services and a practical in-depth knowledge of the methods and science employed within the section. *Experience of supervision of a team. *Knowledge of UKAS quality systems. *Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written *Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload for self and team. *Proven Track Record of working to deadlines *Able to adapt to and implement change
