A unique opportunity has arisen for a motivated Senior or Principal Ecological consultant to join a small but fast growing ecology team to strengthen their service offering in the London region. You will be supporting the delivery of a diverse range of bespoke ecological projects including net gain strategy work.

Role & Company:

In joining this expanding ecology team, you will have lots of scope to shape the projects that you work on, with considerable project management responsibilities supported by the regional lead. The team offers something different – you will be working on a diverse portfolio of projects including habitat management plans, biodiversity strategy and enhancement and renewable energy projects in the UK and further afield!

In this role, you will be surveying and mitigating works regarding protected species as well as undertaking and writing scoping, Phase 1 habitat reports and developing ecological management plans for planning. If you have a passion for ecology, GIS or conservation and have demonstrable ecological experience within a consultancy environment then we’d love to hear from you. Alongside the fieldwork, you will play a key role in supporting the Team Lead Ecologist in growing the London team. As an experienced consultant you will have the autonomy to work on key elements of project management including reviewing reports as well producing tenders, client liaison, financial management and project programming.

Qualifications & Experience:

The senior ecologist will have;

* Ideally 4+ years of professional experience
* Degree in a relevant scientific degree (ecology, biology, environmental science or similar)
* At least ACIEEM (MCIEEM desirable)
* Excellent report writing skills
* Possess sound knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy

* Ideally with GIS or quantative data analysis background

* Experienced in ecological surveying, particularly for bats, GCN and reptiles
* Hold a European protected species licence for bats and experience with EPSM licence preparation and delivery (desirable)
* Experience/knowledge of green infrastructure and working with urban biodiversity (desirable)
* Must be motivated, outgoing and hardworking!

This opportunity would suit a Senior Ecologist who is looking to take a step up into a managerial position, but with considerable training and support from an established and friendly team. Alongside a competitive salary, the role offers a substantial training budget and support in developing your skills and CPD!
