Summary:

We are a London-based sustainability consultancy looking for freelance educator/teachers to deliver 82 air quality assemblies at 41 primary and secondary schools in Westminster. The work will also involve setting up air quality test tube monitoring around schools and surveying children about how they travel to school. All work will be delivered between February and July 2020. There is scope for involvement in other projects.

We will make all arrangements with schools. Work will be delivered when schools have available assembly slots. Successful applicants will be flexible about when they can to deliver the work. There will be 2-3 educator/teachers in the team, so you will deliver approximately 25-40 school visits. Jobs will be sent to the team, and you will be able to choose the ones that fit your schedule. Some work will last less than a full day.

About you:

You will have experience teaching primary school children, or working with and speaking in front of large groups of primary school children. You will be able to deliver engaging, informative and interactive assemblies to pupils of various ages and abilities, and answer challenging questions from children. You will have a good knowledge of and passion for sustainability and air quality. The content of the air quality assemblies has already been developed, as we have delivered many of these assemblies previously.

About the organisation:

We are a consultancy specialising in reducing impacts on air quality, and reducing children’s exposure to air pollution. Our key clients are local authorities and schools in the London and the home counties.

Key skills and experience:

* Teaching experience or experience working with and speaking in front of large groups of primary school children
* Ability to deliver engaging, informative and interactive lessons to pupils of various ages and abilities
* Knowledge of and passion for air quality / sustainability
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Ability to deliver client requirements within budget
* Flexible schedule and ability to work on short notice
* Enhanced DBS is required (can be applied for if selected)

Role and responsibilities:

* Travel to schools
* Deliver first air quality assembly
* Set up air quality monitoring tubes in accordance with outline plan
* Survey all children in the school, classroom-by-classroom, about how they travel to school
* Delivery second assembly summarising the results of the air quality monitoring
